“It takes a village to raise a child”

Our daughter was born in New Orleans where we had recently relocated and were missing a strong support system. The teachers at our daughter’s early learning center were our Village, who helped make our transition from a young couple to a family of 3 a memorable one. Even during the uncertain times in 2020, they were a big reason for our daughter’s continued learning and development. Having experienced firsthand the importance of early learning facilities for our family, we are keen on doing our bit in the community and creating opportunities for young families to benefit from quality early childhood education and experiences.

Born to an engineer and an accomplished English teacher, Sumedh is himself a Chemical Engineer with a Ph.D. from Rice University with a passion for teaching and mentoring. He works in the energy industry in Houston and is an avid runner and cyclist.

Pooja is a Computer Engineer with a Masters from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). She works in the E-commerce industry helping companies enhance their online business. Pooja enjoys painting and spends her time volunteering in the community with several non-profits primarily catered toward education and career development for young women!

We are passionate about providing quality early learning resources in our community. We both genuinely believe that it’s important to help develop “good humans” who can make the world a better place for us all.

Angel Harris

Ms. Harris brings over 15 years of experience in the early childhood education field, having honed her expertise through her Director’s License and American Montessori certification. Her guiding philosophy centers on the profound potential within each child. By fostering a nurturing environment brimming with love, respect, and positive guidance, Ms. Harris believes our children will blossom into compassionate and impactful members of society.

Her vision extends beyond the individual child. Ms. Harris is dedicated to empowering our teachers, providing them with the tools and mentorship they need to cultivate a rich learning experience for all. This includes a thoughtfully curated environment filled with stimulating materials that foster both academic and social development.

Ms. Harris is a firm believer in open communication. Her door is always open to teachers and parents alike. She is a dedicated listener, ever-ready to address your needs and collaboratively ensure the continued success of Ivy Kids of Peek.

Melissa Fernandez

My name is Melissa Fernandez. I’m excited to be a part of the Ivy Kids of Peek team and to be contributing to the educational journey of our young learners. As a lifelong educator with 15 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with students of all ages, from toddlers to pre-kindergartners. My passion for education began from a young age, as I was raised in a loving family that valued kindness, respect, and gratitude. Despite facing challenges as a child, my family found joy in the small things and taught me to appreciate what we had. We didn’t have much, but we had each other, and that was all that mattered.

These core values were instilled in me from childhood, and I’ve made it my mission to pass them on to the next generation. As a mom to a 19-year-old son, I’ve had the opportunity to watch him grow and develop into the kind and responsible individual he is today. I’m proud of the young man he’s become, and I’m excited to bring my own experiences and expertise to the childcare field.

My approach to education is simple: lead by example. I believe that children learn best when they’re shown what it means to be kind, respectful, and responsible. As educators, it’s our job to model these behaviors for our students, and I’m committed to doing just that.

As Educational Director, I’m excited to share my knowledge and expertise with teachers, providing guidance and support to help them create engaging and effective learning environments. I’m also eager to share some of the “tricks and tools” I’ve learned over the years to help teachers overcome challenges and celebrate successes.

In my free time, you can find me enjoying movie nights with my son, outdoor activities or planning a road trip. I’m excited to join this team and contribute to the educational journey of our students.
