Getting your schooler ready for summer!

Summer of fun…

As days grow longer and temperatures get warmer, excitement is starting to fill the air. The end of the school year is in sight, and summer is almost within reach.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Make this one of the best summers yet!

For schoolers, summers are a magical time – long, hot days filled with friendship and adventure. However, after a while, parents might start worrying about the summer slide phenomenon. Many parents are left wondering how their children can thrive and learn over the summer while keeping it light and fun.

Summer camp is an amazing opportunity for children to develop their social, cognitive and physical skills through fun activities and teamwork. Research and experience show that camps have plenty of benefits, like boosting independence and confidence, providing education during summer break, and raising children’s fitness levels.

As we do every year, Ivy Kids is planning an incredible summer with exciting weekly themes. We recognize children’s needs and our summer camps are carefully crafted to support continued learning while giving our campers the time of their lives.

Ivy Kids summer camp will officially kick off on May 29th with a Hawaiian theme, and we will close the season on August 24th with an end-of-the-summer show, where our schoolers will get a chance to take the stage. We will encourage imagination and active learning with STEM and Lego challenges, explore myths, legends and histories of ancient civilizations, cook and try out yummy foods from around the world; and learn how to build during DIY week.

Several of our popular themes are returning once again. If you love sports and a bit of healthy competition, join us for Ivy Kids Games week, where we will host our annual tournament amongst all our Ivy Kids locations. If your schooler is a future scientist or a budding wizard, you should check out our Potions and Charms week. Sometimes, the best way to de-stress is just to embrace the mess! Kids love putting on an old outfit and playing with dirt and slime. It’s no wonder Messy Maniacs week is always such a hit!

Each week, our campers will go on field trips to a museum or an activity center, which is included in the price.

For more summer camp information and to sign up today, contact your nearest Ivy Kids center or visit our website. Remember that the number of available spots is limited, so don’t miss out on the chance to join us for a truly epic summer!

What is summer slide?

  • Researchers have linked an excessive amount of time off during the summer to lower test scores and a gap in a student’s academic knowledge. This phenomenon is typically referred to as the Summer Slide.
  • Children forget fundamental concepts learned from the previous school year. According to research, kids lose an average of 2.6 years of math computational skills over the summer. Studies also show comparable declines in reading and writing skills.
  • Nutrition falls by the wayside, as kids consume three more ounces of sugary drinks per day, leading to weight gain.
  • Younger students watch an average of twenty minutes more of television during the summer than the school year, while maintaining the same exercise schedule.
